Sleep Education for Parents of Children with Autism
Staring in early 2013
The Australian Centre for Education in Sleep facilitates group Sleep Solutions Sessions throughout the year for parents of children with sleeping problems.
These group programs are conducted by the Paediatric Sleep Clinic staff and cater for parents and caregivers of children aged 0-18 years.
The aim of the sessions is to allow parents in the community who are struggling with their child’s sleep the opportunity to get some basic assistance in a cheap and timely manner.
The Sleep Solutions Sessions are run by experienced sleep psychologists Dr Sarah Blunden and Brooke Michell across a number of locations in Adelaide. These sessions have also been run in rural areas such as the Riverland. Negotiations are underway to video beam and record these sessions and run them in other centres. If you are from a centre outside Adelaide, South Australia, and you would like to run Sleep Solutions Sessions in your community, please contact us via email to discuss.
The Sleep Solutions Sessions run for 2 hours. These sessions cover important information about children and sleep, followed by ‘question time’ to allow you to obtain advice about your own situation. The sessions aim to give parents enough basic strategies to overcome the most common sleep problems in children.
After the Sleep Solutions Session there are opportunities for you to decide whether you would like to further engage with the Sleep Specialists for individualised follow-up support and assistance.
Sleep Solutions Sessions will run regularly across Adelaide:
